Picos de Europa, Posada de Valdeon

I just love the stark contrast of the white pinkish limestone peaks of the Picos against the fantastic deep blue sky.  These are fairytale mountains very wild in their inaccessibility.  A Buzzard was calling from the trees in the foreground.  After the sketch we did a drive along the Cares Gorge as far as we could, which cuts through the wild heart of the Picos.  It is renowned as one of the most dangerous roads!  We camped in a really secluded spot.  We saw plenty of Alpine Choughs, Ravens and Griffon Vultures around the cliffs and in the evening a Chamois appeared with its youngster.
