Red-breasted Sparrowhawk, Karoo National Park

Description

Red-breasted Sparrowhawk sketches in the poplar plantation up at Mountain View in the Karoo National Park.  Probably removed by now as alien vegetation but entering this small copse was like walking into a sheltered home in the bleak dry and cold conditions in the high altitude sector of the park.  A pair if sparrowhawk nested there several years in succession and could regularly be seen hunting low over the grass veld.
