In February 2025 the stars aligned.. I realised I needed to get my son Laurie to my favourite place on the planet, the Kalahari, specifically Nossob Camp. And we needed to be there the last week in Feb or first week in March which is the only thing that is predictable about the Kalahari my old friend Richard Liversidge told me, that the Kalahari fills up at this time of year with birds and raptors and wildlife because this is when the termites fly. For once, Laurie’s college holidays coincided with some late cancellations in the rest camp and we booked and flew out there for just over a week, visiting my great friends the Conroy family in Kimberley en route. This year it was truly exceptional and I had never seen the Kalahari that green after all the rains. It was brimming with life and this is our best memories of it all in a painting.
