64 x 50 cm gouache painting of Blue Barley and SkyFog on Hahnemuhle watercolour paper 300gsm
This exceptionally bright painting makes best use of gouache paint to show off the wonderful colours and hues in new barley before it goldens along with the lovely soft textures as it sways in the breeze. The blues in the barley and in the trees beyond contrast beautifully with the warm red fields of maturing meadows beyond. The UK was starting to experience a heatwave at this time but the St Davids peninusula was protected by a cool sea mist showing in the painting as ‘Sky Fog’. Curiously the name of the hamlet hiding in this mist is SkyFog or the Welsh “YskeiFiog”.
